Grocery shopping can be very stressful and exhausting, unless you develop a system that works for you as well as your budget. There are a few basic tips to remember to make this experience stress-free on both you and your budget.
In this article, we will be talking about some tips to remember when preparing for your outing to the grocery store.
1. Make a List
And stick to it! If you go to the grocery store with a list of the things you are going to purchase and stick to it, you will not be tempted to buy other things! This will also help you save time in getting the items to your car and finding space when you get home.
2. Clip Coupons
You can do this by yourself, with your family, or even invite a group of friends over to help you with the coupon-clipping process. The more coupons you find towards your purchases, the more you will save.
Depending on the access you have to coupons, you should be able to find both a coupon for the item, from the manufacturer, as well as a coupon for the item from the store its self. This means that in some stores, you can use two coupons towards the same item.
Using two coupons towards the same item will save you even more money in the long run. On top of the coupons, some stores have a discount card that can sometimes save you even more!
3. Buy in Bulk
If you buy certain items in larger portions, you can sometimes save money this way as well. Often, you can buy things like meat in bulk packages that will last a week or two, depending on how many you are feeding.
Furthermore, you can buy the bulk package, take it home, and separate it into individual bags in smaller portions so that you can freeze it and only pull out the amount you need.
This will not only save you money when you purchase it, but packaging it into smaller portions will make it less likely that you have to throw out any that has gone bad.
Some other great things that can be purchased in bulk are cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo and soap.
These are just a few of the ways that someone can save money shopping on a tight budget. Talk with your friends and family to see if they would be interested in helping you with this project and if they have any other ideas to contribute that you may not have thought of yet. This can be fun for all ages.
